It looks like Jang Dong Min's handwritten apology had an effect as the lawsuit against the comedian has been dropped.
On May 13, Jang Dong Min's agency Koen Group announced that the accuser has withdrawn her lawsuit against him for defamation. The agency revealed that after receiving Jang Dong Min's handwritten apology letter, the woman in question decided to forgive him for his comments and withdraw her suit.
Koen Group stated, "Jang Dong Min and the agency will consider this recent incident as a life lesson, and he will apply himself to show a better side of himself on broadcast and his own personal life."
As previously reported, the last survivor of the Sampoong Department Store in 1995 was suing the comedian for derogatory comments about her. He had joked, "When the Sampoong Departmentment Store collapsed, the woman who got saved 21 days later lived by drinking urine." The woman in question sued Jang Dong Min, and she said through her lawyer, "I barely survived that hardship, and I was so insulted that the process could even be used as a comedic situation."
