Previously, both the prosecution side and Lee Byung Hun's side appealed in the blackmailing case involving former GLAM member Dahee and model Lee Ji Yeon with the former demanding harsher punishment and the latter asking for favorable agreements after the women were sentenced to about a year in prison each.
The first appeal trial occurred on March 5 at the Seoul Central District Court with the prosecutor stating, "They are not sincerely reflecting [on their actions] . . . The two of them precisely planned out the crime and, while sending in letters of apology, they claimed precise details of the crime that were different from the truth, so it is hard to view this as sincere self-reflection. Let's terminate the decision made in the original trial and put in place a heavy punishment like the one requested in the original trial."

On the other hand, Lee Ji Yeon's attorney stated, "It was a random crime and if you look in the video, the fear that Lee Byung Hun felt seems slight. At the appeal court, Lee Byung Hun expressed his desire to reach an agreement because he did not want them to be punished."
Lee Ji Yeon stated in a final testimony, "I sincerely apologize to Lee Byung Hun and his family and I am truly reflecting a lot. I have nothing to say except that I'm sorry," while Dahee stated, "Through this incident, I came to realize how foolish this was. I want to sincerely apologize to the victim and his family. I never knew I would show such a foolish side to myself like this to the parents who've raised me brightly. I'm sorry to everyone."
