Model Lee Ji Yeon, who took part in attempting to blackmail actor Lee Byung Hun, was revealed to have submitted her seventh letter of apology to the Seoul Central District Court on December 30. As GLAM's Dahee has submitted 15 letters of apologies so far, this recent letter makes a total of 22 from the two.
In addition, the model's parents and other relatives have stepped up to defend her from criticism and clear up rumors. Magazine 'Woman Sense' met up with her parents for the January issue in which they defended themselves and their daughter from certain accusations.
According to the report, the parents acknowledged that it was wrong of their daughter to have demanded money from Lee Byung Hun, but insisted that she is not a gold digger.
They stated, "People said that she plotted the crime because of a difficult situation at home; we were so taken aback that we were left speechless. Even though we're not extremely wealthy, we are living comfortably. We send Ji Yeon sufficient money for living expenses every month. There was even content released saying that her father was fighting cancer. It's true that he underwent surgery because the stomach cancer was discovered in its early stages, but Ji Yeon did not have to worry about the treatment bill at all."
The parents also showed they were upset about the suspicions that they had already purchased tickets to escape to Europe. They explained, "Every year, we go traveling abroad with Ji Yeon. Last year, we went to Turkey, and this year, we likewise wanted to go somewhere in Europe, so Ji Yeon looked up airplane tickets for that area."
They acknowledged that it was wrong of their daughter to have blackmailed Lee Byung Hun, but they also stated that they could not understand why Lee Byung Hun would immediately report it to the police when she had behaved that way from a fit of anger.
Meanwhile, the prosecutors have asked for three years in prison for both Lee Ji Yeon and Dahee.
