After Seo Taiji announced he would be releasing a collaboration project entitled 'Sogyeokdong' with IU before the unveiling of his ninth album, 'Quiet Night,' IU's version was released first on October 2 and quickly swept the music charts!
Within four hours of its release, it topped a total of 9 music charts, including MelOn, Mnet, and Naver. However, not everything appears to be well as there were speculations Seo Taiji's "Sogyeokdong" plagiarized Scottish co-ed group Chvrches' "The Mother We Share" after noting similarities.

In response, Seo Taiji's rep told Newsen on October 2, "Seo Taiji's pre-release track 'Sogyeokdong' is definitely not a plagiarized song. Because it is certainly not plagiarized, we feel there is no value in taking action. There is no need for that, so our position is to not take action."
