4minute recently returned with their fifth mini-album and title track "Whatcha Doin' Today?" and met up with Star Today to reveal their thoughts on this comeback.
The girls said, "We paid attention to every little thing from the jacket photos to the stage. As the members were all on the same page with this album, it is greatly significant." In relation to their title song, the girls said, "We hope a lot of people will love it as it gives off a vibe that we are approaching the public in a friendly manner."
They also talked about the release of this album after senior girl groups like Girls' Generation and 2NE1 made their comebacks, as well. Sohyun said, "Last year and even the year before that, we overlapped with many seniors such as Psy, Cho Yong Pil, and Lee Hyori. It turned out that we met with them whether we tried to avoid them or not."

HyunA said, "I think one thing we did honestly was our timing. Truthfully, 'Whatcha Doin' Today?' was a song we received a long time ago. That was a time when we could work slowly on our album, but if we delayed it any more, our agency friend G.NA would have a very hard time as she's anticipating a comeback soon. We couldn't falter or anything. We had to just prepare to launch ourselves."
They were asked if they felt confident about competing against senior girl groups and the members said altogether, "We have confidence." Gayoon said, "We are always overflowing with confidence. Even this time, we heard a lot about Girls' Generation and 2NE1, but our songs give off different vibes and our outfits are also different, so I don't actually get the sense that we're competing."
Sohyun said, "If you watch movies, there's something like a man's world. As there is a feeling of a 'girl group war' this time, that kind of feeling gives me good energy."
