Preparing for survival in Micronesia and underwater hunting, Siwan had already received training in diving before arriving at the jungle. In relation to free diving (diving without breathing equipment), Siwan said, "In order to equalize, I kept going in then out, even taking in a lot of the sea water." However, he made sure he did not overdo himself on the advice of Kim Byung Man.
In relation to Siwan's calm composure, Kim Byung Man said, "I was keeping an eye on Siwan. He followed me about 7 to 8 meters deep. Problems could arise because of the urge to breathe, but I had confidence in him because he was not too ambitious, rather taking it a step at a time."
Although Siwan had a bit of difficulty at first, in the end he managed to grab a conch shell from a depth of 8 meters, which he proudly showed off as he came up from the water.
