Jeguk High is a dog-eat-dog world. When things are this intense, you've got to have someone on your side. So, who's looking out for whom these days? Let's take a look at five people who are protecting or being protected in episode seven of 'Heirs'...

5. Young Do wants to protect Eun Sang
When Eun Sang (Park Shin Hye) needs to be away from home but doesn't have work to do, she hangs out at the convenience store down the road. She can sit outside and catch up on sleep at one of the patio tables without having to buy anything. Young Do (Kim Woo Bin) often stops by the same convenience store. When he sees Eun Sang, he can't help but go over and pester her; he says that seeing her like this makes him want to protect her. While having the scariest guy at school on your side may seem like a good idea in theory, Tan (Lee Min Ho) says that this is Young Do's way of threatening her, the absolute last person anyone would want threatening them.
4. Tan wants to protect Eun Sang
Tan has been following Eun Sang around like a lost puppy ever since he met her back in the States. While most of the time she's good at taking care of herself without his help, Tan keeps insisting that she is out of her depth at Jeguk High, and the only way she's going to survive is by sticking close to him. Of course, from Eun Sang's perspective, Tan's protection is what's causing her trouble in the first place- Rachel and Young Do would leave her alone if Tan was out of the picture, and then she could just stick close to Chan Young and be perfectly okay.
Unfortunately, the damage is already done. If Tan left Eun Sang to her own devices now, Rachel might back off, but I have a feeling Young Do's not going to leave her alone until he gets whatever he's after. Ugh, what a creep. Like it or not, Eun Sang kind of needs Tan on her side right now, but I think it'd take either Tan saving her from some really bad situation or Chan Young telling her to let Tan help for Eun Sang to finally stop pushing him away. Then again...
3. Rachel and Young Do don't really want to protect each other, but they do anyway (kind of)
As the saying goes, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". Rachel (Kim Ji Won) and Young Do are both very much against their parents' upcoming wedding. Hate for the marriage trumps their dislike for each other, and results in the two of them being stuck looking out for each other even when they don't want anything to do with each other.
Back in the first episode, Young Do made a comment at the family dinner about Rachel being "just his type". In episode seven, when Rachel comes to ask Young Do to figure out how to get them out of this family photo situation, Young Do answers, "Do you want to go out with me?", before changing the subject. Could these two be heading for a contract relationship to make their parents' relationship look inappropriate?
2. Eun Sang wants to protect Joon Young
Besides Chan Young (CNBLUE's Minhyuk), Joon Young (Jo Yoon Woo) seems to be the only person at Jeguk High whom Eun Sang feels any loyalty towards. He keeps her secret about being a social care student and tries to help her out, and Eun Sang, being Eun Sang, can't let that good deed go unrepaid. Of course Young Do, being Young Do, treats Eun Sang's compassion as a weakness and uses Joon Young as bait to get Eun Sang to talk to him. As much as she wants to do the right thing, there really is no good answer here- she can't stand by and do nothing in good conscience, but the more involved she gets, the worse things seem to get for Young Do.
1. Chan Young wants to protect Eun Sang
Yes, I'm going to rave about these two once again- I can't help it! I'm a sucker for a good friendship line.
They're both hard workers doing their best to prove that they deserve the scholarships to Jeguk, and they've always got each other's backs. While we've mostly seen Chan Young helping Eun sang so far in the show, in this episode we found out that Eun Sang used to beat up his bullies when they were kids. If that doesn't sound like something Eun Sang would do, I don't know what does.
Now they're a little older and the tables have turned, with Chan Young having to take care of Eun Sang's bullies. He may not be able to beat people up, but he is the class president. Considering how Young Do didn't back off of Eun Sang and Bo Na (f(x)'s Krystal) until Chan Young arrived, that presidency does seem to carry some weight. Chan Young was even willing to risk the wrath of Bo Na by asking her to keep Eun Sang's secret
The show has also made a point of telling us several times that Chan Young is good with computers- he's even got the nickname "White Hacker Yoon" (a "white hacker" or "white hat" is someone who knows how to hack security systems, but who only uses their knowledge for good). It'll be interesting to see why the writers made him a hacker and how he'll use those skills in the future to take care of his best friend.
Well, if this show's goal was to make me terrified of Kim Woo Bin, they have officially succeeded. Young Do is already a mega-creep, but the face he makes after Tan punches him... I felt like /I/ was about to get punched! I even get a little nervous when I see him on 'M!Countdown' these days.
So, what do you guys think of all our knights and dames in shining armor? And are you as terrified of Kim Woo Bin as I am? Be sure to catch episode seven at Drama Fever and let us know what you think in the comments!
