Artist Lee Sung Wook of '90s vocal group R.ef, who had just made their first comeback in 8 years, has denied allegations of physical assault towards his former wife, they are legally divorced.

The two were said to have engaged in an argument in the car that soon became physical with both of them hitting each other on the face and such areas. After receiving a call from the wife at approximately 1:00 AM on October 7th, the Seoul Gangnam Police Department were deployed on-site. The singer was brought into questioning first, while his ex-wife was sent to the hospital for injuries to her chin. The two were both booked without detention.

A representative from Lee Sung Wook's side denied the claims stating,�"His former wife called him to discuss some things, but at the time she was drunk beyond the ability to converse. During this process, an argument happened, and Lee Sung Wook says that he didn't even touch a hair on her body."

After the news broke, Lee Sung Wook posted a message on his company's homepage apologizing to fans while claiming innocence;�"I sincerely express my apologies towards our fans for bringing bad news, regardless of the truth," he began. "However, the news of two-way physical assault is not true. In the process of delivering a personal message, due to her drunken state at the time, she began to get a little heated and the situation became bigger than it really was."

"Thanks to our first comeback in eight years, R.ef and the company family are promoting with happiness. I apologize once again for giving our fans doubts and worries at a time like this."

Meanwhile, R.ef debuted in 1995 and recently made their comeback in 8 years last month with their digital single, "it's r.ef".
