On the 4th, Psy held a free concert at Seoul Plaza and performed for an extremely large and energized crowd, even taking his shirt off just as he had promised during the performance.
His concert was needless to say, highly successful, attracting an estimate of 80,000 people. The concert started at 10 PM, but fans started to gather from 3-4 PM. At 8 PM, 25,000 people had gathered in the square, waiting for the concert to start. The crowd was made up a variety of people, from middle school students to businessmen on their way back home, from couples to entire families. Some of the fans even danced to Psy's "Gangnam Style" together before the start of the concert. Even tourists had gathered to watch Psy as well.
The concert then started with the Korean national anthem and continued onto Psy's hits such as "Celebrity" and "We Are the One".
However, as fun as the concert was, the concert was not free of issues with the extreme overcrowding. There were so many people gathered at Seoul Plaza that no phone signals could get through, forcing emergency workers to move in. On top of that, 6 women in their 50s experienced shortness of breath and passed out and had to be moved to the hospital. In addition, the hotels around the plaza were overbooked with phone calls still streaming in even after the event, and fast food chains experienced lines that went out the door.
