In a recent interview, YG Entertainment's Yang Hyun Suk stated that he is still overwhelmed and bewildered by Psy's "Gangnam Style" going viral all over the world. "Gangnam Style" has definitely reserved its spot as this year's top K-Pop song and has already reached over 47 million views on YouTube. As the CEO of YG, Yang Hyun Suk has also contributed in the editing of the "Gangnam Style" music video, which recently took the #1 spot on the U.S. iTunes' MV chart for the first time in K-Pop history.
Yang Hyun Suk stated, "To be honest, I am still bewildered by the sudden hype of the song. Psy has a unique character that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. This is why I believe that everything that is happening to him right now was never impossible. No artist can survive in a foreign music industry by simply copying what others do. It seems like Psy's strategy to differentiate himself from other artists is working well."
Even fans are telling Psy and Yang Hyun Suk to "never let go of this opportunity". It is extremely rare that a Korean artist is getting so much spotlight in the U.S. and both Psy and Yang Hyun Suk are well aware of this. Regarding the love call from the international pop sensation Justin Bieber, the founder of YG responded, "We cannot reveal all the details yet, but an amazing collaboration project is in progress so please look forward to it."
In related news, various celebrities, including Robbie Williams, T-Pain, Josh Groban and Katy Perry, have all shared Psy's "Gangnam Style" MV on their twitter. The "Gangnam Style" hype has even reached the U.S. National Football League, as a punt returner from the Baltimore Ravens performed the "horse riding" dance for his touchdown ceremony in a pre-season game.
