On June 22nd, Mnet's 'Show Me the Money', the rapper version of 'I Am a Singer', aired its pilot broadcast featuring the preliminary rounds.
Garion, Verbal Jint, Double K, 45RPM, MC Sniper, Miryo, Joosuc, and Hoony Hoon oversaw the auditions of 1,000 rookie rappers, 21 of whom will be chosen to continue on and compete in the show.
Popular underground artist TakeOne was one of those auditioning and instantly earned the attention of the panel and viewers with his surprise appearance and performance. In addition to earning a passing score from Joosuc, he also shook hands with the senior artist.
The judges not only looked for musical talent, but also their passion for their craft, as many came armed with heartbreaking stories that made even the toughest of rappers shed a few tears. Contestants ranged from former girl group members to even former members of the panelist teams, such as the case with original 45RPM member Lee Byung Rong, who received a pass.
Out of the 21, eight will be chosen to team up with the panelists and compete against each other for the final win.
