The Hallyu wave is continuing to have a significant impact on Japan. The Takeshita streets of Harajuku are known to be the 'hot spots' for Japan's most fashionable and dynamic young people. It's a place to see and be seen, with trendy and eclectic mixing all into one. Amongst the fashion boutiques that sell casual-style clothing, traditional Japanese kimonos, and punk-rock attire, were shops that sold merchandise related to Korea's most elite celebrities. From the inside out, these shops were covered in photos and posters of Korean celebrities like Jang Geun Suk, SNSD, KARA, and more. Kyoto, one of the shop owners, remarked, "The number of customers looking for K-pop merchandise is growing by the day. Items such as photos and hand-fans are the most popular. The items that sell out the most are from JYJ; SNSD has been very popular too recently. KARA and Jang Geun Suk merchandise were popular for a while, but not so much anymore".
