Actor Lee Byung Hun has been offered a role in MBC's upcoming mini-series "The King", which is scheduled to air in March 2012. If he decides to take this role, it will be Lee Byung Hun's first drama series since his huge hit, "Iris". According to an MBC drama representative, "The production crew of 'The King' is making every effort to get Lee Byung Hun. They are even using producer Lee Jae Gyu, who is a friend of Lee Byung Hun's, to persuade him." Producer Lee Jae Gyu and Lee Byung Hun worked together last year for the movie, "Influence". Soon after, the two got really close and it's been said that they often call and meet to give each other advice. Therefore, industry representativs are fairly positive that Lee Jae Gyu will be able to influence Lee Byung Hun to accept the role. But, when you consider Lee Byung Hun's schedule, the future may not seem so bright. Lee Byung Hun will be abroad until the end of this year, filming for "G.I. Joe 2". Afterwards, he'll be busy with a variety of foreign schedules that'll make it impossible for him to participate in filming for "The King", which will begin in January. "The King" is a comedic melodrama about the love between a man and a woman who come from top families in North and South Korea. This will be the first collaborative work in four years between producer Lee Jae Gyu and writers Hong Jin Ah and Hong Ja Ram. Source: Korea Daily via Naver
