The MBC Sunday variety program 'Infinity Challenge' has been enjoying increased viewer support thanks to its heartwarming 'rowing special', which took place over seven episodes.
The latest episode, which showcased the finale as the 10 'Infinity Challenge' members and guests completed their 5-month-long odyssey to become professional rowers, hit 17.9% nationwide ratings. This rating trumped its competition and solidified 'Infinity Challenge's' place as the 'Nation's Variety Show'.
The rowing special has been drawing praise for its ability to tug at the viewers' heartstrings. The special has also displayed the members' hardships and toil as they practiced for the competition, which drew teams from around the world.
Viewer response has been overwhelmingly positive; the MBC website even crashed for a brief moment following the final episode's broadcast due to viewers rushing to leave comments. "It was a continuing melodrama," said a comment. "Applause to everyone who worked hard" and "I teared up at the emotions, the best" commented other viewers.
Together with special guests Defconn, Gary, and 2AM's Jinwoon, the 'Infinity Challenge' crew came in at last place, but managed to shave more than a minute off their previous record for 2,000 meters.
