Four member band The Coin Rocker Boys has been emerging as the newest generation in Korean indie scene. The band released their first official album, "Insert Coin," this May and has been busy promoting outside of Korea. They began their four-city Japanese tour in July and will be expanding to the rest of Asia for the second half of the year. The Korean indie scene has slowed to a standstill regarding 90's bands such as No Brain, Crying Nut, and Sugar Donut, thereby giving The Coin Rocker Boys domination of the scene for the past four years. They've even been receiving endless love calls from major music companies. The band first came together in 2006 after high school friends Kim Hwan and Jung Moonbup met again at a club in Hongdae. Along with guitarist Im Muhyuk and drummer Kim Hyungpil, the band finally came together to "create music that's fun and exciting." The strengths of the band are said to be their rapid beats and thick melodies where sadness and joy seem to co-exist. Their title track for their first official album is "A Piece of Memory." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8VjXzMtr1E Source + Photo: Sports Chosun
