'K-Pop Star 6' winner and former Starship Entertainment trainee Park Hyun Jin revealed why he gave up on his idol dreams on 'High School Rapper'.
In the latest preview for Mnet's 'High School Rapper 4', Park Hyun Jin shared why his aspirations changed from being an idol star to becoming a rapper. He revealed, "To be honest, I didn't want to be an idol when I signed with Starship, but I felt that my mother wanted me to. The music was the complete opposite of what I was hoping for."
He added, "When I fell into that lack of energy, I knew I didn't want to go forward with it, so I struggled to get out of the company somehow. When I left the label, I listened to a lot of music, rapped, and found a style of music I wanted to do. I want to show you my own music style."
Park Hyun Jin is known to have won the final title on 'K-Pop Star 6' in 2017, and he later promoted as part of the male duo Boyfriend with fellow competitor Kim Jong Seop. Both signed trainee contracts with YG Entertainment, but Park Hyun Jin eventually left to sign an exclusive contract with Starship Entertainment in July 2017 only to leave Starship as well. Kim Jong Seop left YG Entertainment to sign with FNC Entertainment, and he debuted with the 6-member boy group P1Harmony in October of last year.
