On July 31, videos of Kim Ye Ji participating in the 25m pistol event at the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan, which were held last May, went viral on X (formerly known as Twitter). In the video that has amassed over 30 million views, Kim Ye Ji, dressed in black and wearing a cap backward, is seen shooting the pistol, and then checking the target with a composed expression before securing the gun. She takes a deep breath, looks at the target again, and turns away. During this ISSF competition, Kim Ye Ji set a world record and won the gold medal.

Netizens worldwide have praised Kim Ye Ji, likening her to a "movie character." A post on X, featuring the video with the caption, "The most 'main character energy' I've ever seen," amassed over 25 million views as of 11 AM on the 31st. Comments included, "She looks like a movie character, but this is real," "She has an aura," and "The coolest woman in the world."

Elon Musk, the controversial CEO of Tesla and owner of X, also shared the video, commenting, "It would be cool to have a shooting world champion in an action movie." Musk added, "She should be cast in an action movie. No acting required!"

GQ Sports reported on July 30 (local time) that Kim Ye Ji looked "like a sci-fi assassin in cutting-edge sportswear" during her performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The magazine detailed the brands and styles of her outfit, including her athletic wear, hat, shoes, and piercings.

Kim Ye Ji won a silver medal in the women's 10m air pistol final at the 2024 Paris Olympics, held at the Châteauroux Shooting Center in France on July 28 (local time). South Korean Oh Ye Jin took the gold in the event. She is set to compete in the women's 25m pistol preliminaries on August 2 (KST).
