Jennie unveils new persona as ‘My Name is Gabriel’ on Disney+.

On September 16 KST, Disney+ Korea’s official YouTube channel released a commentary video for ‘My Name is Gabriel’, featuring a special appearance by BLACKPINK’s Jennie. The show has drawn attention for revealing spoilers about Jennie’s upcoming episode.

In the episode, Jennie steps away from her world as a global star, taking on the role of Maria, the owner of a countryside guesthouse in a small village near Rome, Italy. She spends 72 hours living a simpler life, doing tasks like picking up guests, cooking, preparing for a banquet, and even hosting a cooking class.

Producer Kim Taeho recalled Jennie’s experience, sharing, “When Jennie got out of the car, she suddenly entered a store, bought some gelato, and then went grocery shopping. She said, ‘It’s been so long since I’ve had this kind of freedom.’ That moment really stuck with me.” He added that Jennie had likely never experienced such a time since her debut, making her comment feel fresh and significant.

Kim Taeho also noted, “Watching ‘Gabriel,’ I think viewers will realize they’re not alone. Everyone has their own stories and challenges, but this show reveals how these individuals still lead happy lives. I hope viewers find a lot of empathy and see that our whole life can be made beautiful by these moments.”

Producer Lee Taekyung expressed hope that viewers will want a second season after watching Jennie’s episode, which will air on September 27th and October 4th KST.
