Hwang Ha Na, the only granddaughter of Namyang Dairy Product's founder, is scheduled to be sentenced to prison after being found to have administered drugs during her probation period.

On June 23, the prosecution asked the court to sentence the defendant to two and a half years in prison and a fine of 500,000 KRW (440 USD) for administering methamphetamine five times at a hearing held at the Seoul Western District Court.

The prosecution explained, "The defendant committed the crime again even though she was already given a suspended sentence by the court once. She has denied her crimes and has shifted that responsibility over to her late husband and not self-reflecting."

Hwang Ha Na was indicted on charges of taking methamphetamine five times, including taking methamphetamine with her husband, Mr.Oh, and his acquaintances Mr.Nam and Mr.Kim in August last year and taking methamphetamine at a motel in Seoul at the end of the same month. Hwang Ha Na is also accused of stealing items worth 5 million KRW (4,400 USD) from her acquaintance's residence on November 29 last year.

At the time of the indictment, Hwang Ha Na was on a probation period. Hwang Ha Na was previously indicted on charges of taking methamphetamine three times at home from May to September 2015 and using psychotropic drugs without prescription in April 2018 and was sentenced to one year in prison and two years of probation in November 2019.

Hwang Ha Na's lawyer denied the charges in his final defense, saying, "There is not enough evidence to prove the defendant's charges," adding, "The investigation agency indicted him based only on confession statements from acquaintances, and there is no clear evidence to support the defendant's actual presence at the crime site."

In regards to the theft charge, the lawyer also claimed, "The investigation agency did not confirm whether the victim's lost item was actually owned. It is clear that the defendant did not steal it."

The lawyer also explained that Hwang Ha Na has been receiving a lot of hate from the public because of her negative image as there have been provocative media reports linking her husband's death to his friend's suicide and the Vatican Kingdom (the nation's largest drug distributor).

Hwang Ha Na shed teasers during her final statement as she said, "There are things that are unfair but I sincerely apologize and I am sorry. I truly miss my husband whom I loved dearly and I'm so apologetic about the acquaintance Mr. Nam, who decided to take his own life. I want to live a decent life with my acquaintances and family."

Hwang Ha Na was not able to read the rest of her statement as she sobbed severely and choked while shedding tears. The sentencing hearing will take place on July 9th.
