There is a controversy brewing online concerning an alleged rape case at Konkuk University, specifically in regard to how the male student who allegedly raped a female student will be graduating without any penalties.

According to what Konkuk University's official Facebook page posted on January 13 and various other online sources, 'A', who is enrolled in the Department of Social Welfare, is currently under police investigation for charges of raping fellow Konkuk University student 'B.'

A rep from the school revealed in a phone call, "'A' is currently under police investigation for raping 'B', whom he met by chance when he was a senior last year, after breaking into her private quarters."

The incident became public after it was spread online through social media. One Konkuk University-related blog had uploaded a post titled 'A Konkuk University Dept. of Welfare student who will graduate as usual even after raping a fellow female student.' The post detailed how the victim 'B' was raped by 'A' last year in October.

Though 'A' and 'B' knew each other, they were not said to be friends. One day, 'A' had come by 'B's place in a drunken state and knocked on her door. 'B', who thought it was her friend, opened the door only to find 'A', who immediately turned off the lights and allegedly raped her two times.

'B' has reported 'A' to the police and currently the police are still investigating. 'B', who must have suffered great trauma from the incident, is said to be inflicting self-harm on herself and living every day in distress. The main problem is that 'A' will be graduating come February without retribution of any kind for his criminal act.

Konkuk University is said to have told media outlet Insight, "We are aware of the case at hand but because 'A's guilt isn't confirmed, we can't give a definitive answer on anything related to his graduation. If the school is to take any sort of action, then the victim herself must come to the school to write her testimony, among other procedures, but it doesn't appear to us as though she is suffering. We have no choice other than to respect the victim's proceedings."
