Melon, the most popular and widely used music streaming service in South Korea, plays a pivotal role in determining the success of songs and albums. In 2023, Melon introduced a new feature called ‘MelOn Hall,’ which tracks and displays an artist’s streaming statistics, including the number of streams in the first 24 hours of release and daily streaming growth. It also ranks artists based on their total number of streams in Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Let’s check out the top 5 most-streamed solo albums within the first 24 hours of release on MelOn Hall:

1. Übermensch by G-DRAGON [4,202,200]

The King of K-pop, G-Dragon, made a powerful return with his long-awaited album “Übermensch,” released on February 25. Featuring eight diverse tracks spanning various genres, the album set a new record, amassing a staggering 4,202,200 streams within the first 24 hours on MelOn Hall. This accomplishment solidified G-Dragon’s influence, proving that his music continues to resonate deeply with devoted fans and the general public at large.

2. The Winning by IU [3,184,400]

IU is one of the most celebrated soloists in South Korea, and it's no surprise that her last comeback album, “The Winning,” released last year, took second place for the most-streamed solo album within the first 24 hours of release on ‘MelOn Hall’ with 3,184,400 streams. Featuring five captivating tracks, “The Winning” captivates both fans and non-fans, reinforcing IU’s position as a music industry powerhouse.

3. GOLDEN by JUNGKOOK [3,108,400]

“GOLDEN,” the first full-length English album by the ‘Golden Maknae’ of BTS, Jungkook, broke charts both globally and in South Korea. It is the third most-streamed album by a soloist on ‘MelOn Hall’ with a total of 3,108,400 streams. With 11 tracks, “GOLDEN” features collaborations with international artists Jack Harlow, Major Lazer, Latto, and DJ Snake, broadening Jungkook’s global appeal and further cementing his position as a solo artist to watch.

4. FACE by JIMIN [2,961,300]

The fourth on the list is “FACE,” the solo debut album by BTS member Jimin, with a total of 2,961,300 streams. Featuring seven tracks, including the popular title track ‘Like Crazy,’ “FACE” showcased Jimin’s talent as a solo artist, breaking multiple records and proving his ability to captivate audiences on his own.

5. YOUTH by DOYOUNG [2,913,800]

Doyoung, the main vocalist of NCT, made his much-anticipated solo debut in April last year with the full-length album “YOUTH.” The album, which features 10 tracks, went on to become the fifth most-streamed solo album on MelOn Hall within the first 24 hours, with 2,913,800 streams. “YOUTH” resonated with listeners through Doyoung’s exceptional vocal performance, establishing him as a force in the soloist scene.

MelOn Hall has become significant for K-pop artists to mark their achievements, and the success of these albums in the first 24 hours is a testament to the immense talent and fan loyalty that these artists command.
