Ahead of his solo 'MEAN : of my first' show in Manila, SHINee's MINHO sat down with members of the media to to answer some questions.
On the meaning of his tour title, MINHO said he wanted to emphasize it being his first solo concert filled with first moments and experiences on stage with the fans. “I want to keep those moments in my heart,” said MINHO.
“I’m so happy. I didn’t expect I would be able to hold my solo concert in the Philippines,” MINHO added, expressing gratitude for all the love and support Shawols (SHINee’s fandom name) have been giving him.
Throughout his 16-year career, MINHO shared, “I’ve realized my weaknesses and my strengths as an artist. I also tried to improve my weaknesses for my best stage performance that I will show to my fans."
When asked about the difference between the SHINee member MINHO and the solo artist MINHO, he said that there is not much of a difference. He added, “As a solo artist, I would be doing what I like, what I’m really good at. The music styles I pick as a solo artist. SHINee MINHO and solo artist MINHO aren’t really super different. It’s just that I choose the music style for my solo projects."
On his evolution as an artist: “I have been in the industry for a long time. There are fans who have been supporting me since the first day, there are fans who came in the middle of my career. So I think the fans know a lot of sides of me. I just want to be creative to show more new sides of myself I’ll be an artist who tries his best to show new sides of MINHO."
“I don’t know. I think there isn’t really a secret," MINHO responded when asked about the secret to his longevity in the entertainment industry. "I’m just true to myself, and the fans really like that side of me. For the future as well, I’ll stay true, transparent, and honest to myself."
“There are times when I feel tired, but because of the love and support people have been giving me, there’s this one thing I tell myself: ‘I don’t want to let them down.’ That’s my driving force that gives me the passion and the burning energy as well. Thank you for being my driving force. You are the reason for my flaming charisma," MINHO expressed.
