ZEROBASEONE's Gyuvin issued an apology but Korean netizens are defending the idol saying he didn't need to apologize.
On February 10, Gyuvin took to a fan communication platform to apologize for his recent comment during a variety program. According to the idol, he compared the audience's cheer sounds on the variety show to his concert saying it was louder than his fandom's cheers.
This upset some fans, prompting Gyuvin to write an apology. He wrote:

"ZEROSE, I'm really sorry for making you upset with what I said during today's recording... I thought that some of the people who came today might not know us well, but they welcomed us so warmly that I became even more nervous.
So without realizing it, I tried to express my gratitude, but I ended up making a comparison with our concert… That was something I should never have done, and I wasn't thinking carefully. I'm truly sorry...
ZEROSE, you are truly irreplaceable and so precious to me. I mean it. Through this incident, I realized that even more deeply, and I will make sure not to repeat this mistake.
I'm really sorry for hurting you..."
However, Korean netizens were baffled that an idol had to apologize for a simple remark he made. Many believed that what Gyuvin said was not harmful and he should not have apologized. They sympathized with Gyuvin and commented:
"It must be so exhausting to be an idol. Aren't the fans even tired of stanning in such an atmosphere? Just watching this is suffocating."
"Seriously, what is this? Did they throw a tantrum just to get an apology?"
"This is just so ridiculous."
"Wait, there are actually fans who took it that way? This is exhausting..."
"Do they not understand that what he said was just a remark out of courtesy?"
"A lot of people say things like, 'Wow, this food is better than homemade meals,' does that mean it's actually better than home-cooked food? It’s just something people say. Why are they so sensitive?"
"Pathetic... And then there will be a truckload of people saying, 'Well, this always happens in the idol scene,' not even realizing that they, too, are caught up in the same toxic mindset."
"It just sounds like he was expressing gratitude to the audience. Maybe he really didn't expect them to know his group's songs but the cheers were louder than he expected. And since it was a smaller venue rather than a concert hall, it might have sounded even louder. Sigh..."
"Ugh, toxic fandoms."
"Wow, instead of nitpicking, why don’t they just cheer louder themselves? Honestly, overall concert cheers have been quieter these days because fans are busy filming and holding up signs. They’re probably overreacting because they feel called out."
"This is some next-level delusion."
"Wow, there really are so many toxic fans. Blowing up over a simple courtesy comment—idols are really pitiful."
"Honestly, this feels like a societal issue—people twisting words and misinterpreting everything."
"I thought he said something really bad. Geez."
"So exhausting, seriously."
