MAMAMOO’s Moonbyul begins new chapter with Japanese debut single ‘Aurora’.
Moonbyul of MAMAMOO has officially embarked on a new journey with the release of her Japanese debut single ‘Aurora’ on February 5th at midnight KST.
‘Aurora’ marks Moonbyul’s first Japanese release in 11 years, capturing her diverse artistic colors, much like the mesmerizing aurora that inspired the title.
The title track, ‘Hoshiakari’ (ほしあかり)—which means “starlight”—features poetic lyrics that compare love and eternity to radiant light. Moonbyul personally contributed to the songwriting, showcasing her evolved musical sensibilities.
The song’s dynamic progression, beginning with a soft acoustic guitar intro and gradually building in intensity, leaves a lasting impression. The blend of emotional band sounds with Moonbyul’s delicate yet deep vocals further enhances the track’s brilliance.
The music video, released alongside the single, tells the story of the moon and stars illuminating the night sky together. Fans are captivated by the stunning cinematography, as well as Moonbyul’s performance with a live band.
In addition to ‘Hoshiakari,’ the Japanese debut single includes the rock ballad ‘Because of You,’ which reflects self-discovery through another person, as well as the Japanese version of ‘Is This Love?,’ the title track from Moonbyul’s first full-length album repackage, released in Korea in August 2023.
