Singer Kim Jong Min shared the reasons he was able to continue with '2 Days & 1 Night' despite tough times.
On the February 5 episode of MBC's 'Radio Star,' which aired as part of the 900th episode special, Kim Jong Min, broadcaster Moon Se Yoon, comedian Park Na Rae, and singer Code Kunst appeared as the guests.
Kim Jong Min opened up, saying, "On the day I was discharged from the military, the '2 Days & 1 Night' members were supportive. I started my first broadcast return with a lot of excitement, but things didn’t go well. Everyone felt awkward, and I didn’t know what to say. It was uncomfortable to join in, and no matter what I said, it felt awkward. It was awful."
He continued, “That’s when the confusion started. I thought, ‘It’ll get better next week,’ but it didn’t. Two more years went by, and then the petition for my departure (from the show) started circulating. The petition kept growing, and I felt like I was falling deeper into a hole.”
He added, "Help didn't sound like help anymore. Words like 'stay strong,' 'do well,' and 'keep fighting' only made me feel more isolated. Even though a lot of people tried to help, it didn’t make a big difference."
Kim Jong Min confessed, "I considered leaving, but I thought my life would end if I did. So I just decided to stay, even if I got kicked off. By holding on, things started to improve."
He further explained, "I realized that even though the higher-ups wanted me to leave, my hyung, Young Seok, stuck with me. As the members and seasons changed, things started to shift. In fact, during Season 3, I was told I should leave. I made up my mind and went to see Kang Ho Dong Hyung. He told me, ‘It’s better if you stay,’ and the next day, I decided to return. That’s how I came back."
