Actor Yoo Yeon Seok, rather than receiving a 'Best New Actor' award at the 'SBS Drama Awards,' was honored with the Rookie Award at the '2024 SBS Entertainment Awards.'
On the afternoon of January 29, at the SBS Prism Tower in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, Yoo Yeon Seok was awarded the Rookie Award in the Talk/Reality category for his work on 'Whenever Possible.'
In his acceptance speech, Yoo Yeon Seok humbly introduced himself as a 'newbie MC,' saying, “Actually, I didn’t win a Rookie Award at the ‘Acting Awards,’ but I’m so grateful to receive the Rookie Award here at the ‘Entertainment Awards.’”
He continued, expressing his gratitude, “Starting with 'Whenever Possible,' I had the precious opportunity to meet and communicate with the public and hear their stories. That was such a valuable experience as an actor. I was thankful for that alone, but I’m even more grateful for this award.”
Yoo Yeon Seok also shared his thoughts on the challenges he faced when first stepping into the MC role: “As an actor, I’m used to memorizing scripts and performing, so I was initially worried about doing Whenever Possible without a script. Hosting with the nation’s MC Yoo Jae Suk was also a big burden, but the production team made it so enjoyable that it earned much love.”
He concluded with a light-hearted comment, thanking Yoo Jae Suk, who helped him step into the world of MC, “He’s like a mother to me in the MC industry, so can I call him my ‘M-mom’?” This remark earned laughter from the audience.
