Jang Do Yeon expresses honor at ‘Radio Star’ 900th episode milestone.

Broadcast personality Jang Do Yeon shared her gratitude and determination during the press conference celebrating the 900th episode of MBC’s long-running talk show ‘Radio Star’ on January 22nd KST. The event was held at MBC’s new building in Sangam-dong, Seoul. Jang humorously remarked, “I’ll do my best not to be kicked out before the 1,000th episode.”

‘Radio Star’, which first aired in 2007, has been entertaining viewers for 19 years and has solidified its status as a cultural phenomenon, producing countless viral moments and beloved interviews. Reaching its 900th episode, the show has earned the title of “the longest-running terrestrial talk show.”

The show’s hosts shared their emotions on this milestone:

• Kim Gook Jin: “Reaching 900 episodes is incredible. Even starting this show was astonishing, but being part of it for so long is deeply meaningful. It’s a great joy to have come this far.”

• Kim Gu Ra: “I debuted in 1993, so it’s been over 30 years. I’ve spent 18 of those years with ‘Radio Star.’ Back in my school days, I saw ‘Sunday Night’ surpass its 1,000th episode under Ju Byung Jin. Like everyone, I strive to work hard, and I’m deeply grateful that, no matter what else I’ve done, people associate Kim Gu Ra with ‘Radio Star.’”

• Yoo Se Yoon: “Though I didn’t join from the first episode, I’ve had the chance to come and go, which makes this all the more meaningful. Being part of such a long-running show has been great for my image, and it’s truly an honor.”

Jang Do Yeon, a more recent addition to the hosting lineup, expressed a mix of humility and humor: “I haven’t been here long, so it feels a bit awkward to be part of this 900th celebration. I debuted in 2017, the same year ‘Radio Star’ first aired, which I personally see as destiny. I’ll work hard to make sure I’m still around when we celebrate the 1,000th episode.”

‘Radio Star’ continues to stand as a testament to its enduring appeal, and its hosts are ready to carry the legacy forward with pride.
