Former Lovelyz member and broadcaster Lee Mi Joo and soccer player Song Bum Geun have broken up, ending their 9-month public relationship.

According to MyDaily on the 20th, Lee Mi Joo and Song Bum Geun recently parted ways. A source close to the couple shared, "Mijoo and Song Bum Geun have broken up. They loved each other beautifully, but the pressure of their public relationship became difficult to handle. Although they’ve broken up, they’ve decided to remain supportive of each other."

The couple first revealed their relationship in April of last year. The news of their romance was made public with both of them posting photos on social media that seemed to show them taking pictures of each other in travel-like settings, thereby confirming their relationship.

Lee Mi Joo, in particular, didn’t hide her affection for Song Bum Geun, even traveling to Yokohama, Japan, where he was playing in the J-League, to be with him.

Despite growing their relationship as a long-distance couple, they ultimately reached the end of their romantic journey. Adding to the sadness is the fact that Song Bum Geun had recently left the Japanese J-League’s Shonan Bellmare and returned to South Korea to join the K-League’s Jeonbuk Hyundai. His domestic transfer had raised expectations for the couple's relationship to develop further, but unfortunately, news of their breakup came first.

Meanwhile, Lee Mi Joo, who debuted as a member of LOVELYZ in 2014, moved to Antenna and made her solo debut in 2023. She is currently showcasing her versatile charm on various entertainment programs, including MBC’s Hanging Out With Yoo

Song Bum Geun, who joined Jeonbuk Hyundai as a rookie goalkeeper in 2018, has returned to Jeonbuk Hyundai this year to prepare for the new season.
