Broadcasting schedules disrupted due to martial law declaration.
On December 4th KST, MBC announced that evening programs such as ‘Rural Village Lee Jang Woo’ at 9 p.m. and ‘Radio Star’ at 10:30 p.m. will not be aired. These slots will be replaced by special news broadcasts. MBC requested viewers’ understanding. SBS is also discussing the cancellation of ‘Kick a Goal’ scheduled for 9 p.m. KBS 1TV will air special news broadcasts, while KBS 2TV’s ‘The Return of Superman’ will proceed as planned at 8:30 p.m.
Morning shows on the three major terrestrial networks were also canceled. Programs like KBS 1TV’s ‘Morning Forum’, MBC’s ‘Live Today Morning’, and SBS’s ‘Good Morning’ did not air. TV Chosun also decided to cancel its ‘Miss 3Lang’ program, scheduled for 10 p.m.
The entertainment industry has been directly affected as well. Jewelry brand Dinvan canceled a photo wall event initially scheduled for 9:10 a.m. at the Galleria Department Store Luxury Hall in Apgujeong, Seoul. Actors Jung Eun Chae, Kim Jae Young, and Nam Yoon Soo were set to attend. Similarly, fragrance brand Jo Malone London canceled a photo wall event scheduled for 5:15 p.m. at a pop-up store in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, which would have featured actor Kim Soo Hyun and STAYC’s Sieun and Cosmic Girls’ Yeoreum.
