The main trailer for the highly anticipated film 'Bogota: The Land of Last Chances' has been released, heightening expectations with its tense atmosphere and gripping story. Starring Song Joong Ki the film portrays the life of Guk Hee (Song Joong Ki), who heads to Bogotá, Colombia, in search of new opportunities after the IMF crisis. There, he becomes entangled with Soo Young (Lee Hee Jun), a powerful figure in the Korean community, and Sergeant Park (Kwon Hae Hyo), setting the stage for a turbulent narrative.
The trailer begins with Guk Hee’s family arriving in Colombia in 1997, seeking a fresh start following the IMF financial crisis. Scenes of yellow taxis, armed soldiers, and military dogs at the airport vividly illustrate the unfamiliar and striking landscape, offering a unique visual spectacle as the first Korean film set in Colombia.
However, the family’s hopeful journey soon takes a dark turn. Guk Hee’s father, Geun Tae (Kim Jong Soo), is robbed at gunpoint, losing a bag containing all their savings. The sight of a 19-year-old Guk Hee chasing the thief at full speed foreshadows the challenges and dangers he will face in his tumultuous life.
Guk Hee begins working under Sergeant Park, a dominant figure in Bogotá's Korean community, helping with smuggling operations. His desperate determination earns him Park’s trust, while Soo Young, the second-in-command in the smuggling market, also takes notice of Guk Hee’s potential. To test Guk Hee's loyalty, Park orders him to retrieve a package belonging to Soo Young. Meanwhile, Soo Young cryptically offers Guk Hee an alternative plan, saying, "Shall I make you an offer?" This sparks intrigue about the choices Guk Hee will make amid rising tensions.
Adding to the suspense are various characters embroiled in Bogotá’s Korean community and smuggling world, including Sergeant Park’s nephew, Small Boss Park (Park Ji Hwan), and Soo Young’s loyal subordinate, Jae Woong (Cho Hyun Chul). Their fierce battles over power and profit intensify the drama.
A standout moment in the trailer features Guk Hee delivering a chilling line in fluent Spanish: “I have no money or goods to share with a thief like you,” paired with a piercing glare that sharply contrasts with his innocent demeanor upon first arriving in Bogotá. His transformation piques curiosity about the hardships that shaped him.
The trailer closes with Guk Hee’s resolute statement, “We have to survive and reach Zone 6,” encapsulating his gritty determination to rise from the lowest depths to achieve his dreams.
'Bogota: The Land of Last Chances' is set to hit theaters on December 31.
