NewJeans wears black ribbons at Japan Record Awards to honor Jeju Air tragedy victims.
On December 30th KST, NewJeans attended the live broadcast of the 66th Japan Record Awards and delivered a touching tribute to the victims of the Jeju Air tragedy. The group wore black ribbons on their outfits as they performed ‘Supernatural’, a performance that earned them the Excellence Award.
Prior to the event, NewJeans shared a photo on their ‘jeanzforfree’ account, captioned “with a heart of mourning”, showcasing black flower-shaped ribbons as a gesture of respect.
Their agency, ADOR, commented, “This schedule was carried out after careful consideration of its impact on the event organizers. Proceeding with activities at this time weighs heavily on us, and we ask for fans’ understanding.”
Following their appearance at the Japan Record Awards, NewJeans is set to take the stage at Japan’s New Year festival, Countdown Japan 24/25, on December 31st.
