J.Y. Park donates ₩1 billion (approximately 700,000 USD) for medical expenses of underprivileged children, continuing three-year giving campaign.
J.Y. Park, singer, producer, and founder of JYP Entertainment, has donated ₩1 billion of his personal wealth to cover the medical expenses of underprivileged children and adolescents. This marks the third consecutive year he has donated ₩1 billion annually, bringing his total contributions to ₩3 billion from 2022 to 2024, setting a strong example of consistent charitable giving.
The donation will be distributed among five regional hospitals in Korea, including Yonsei Medical Center, Gangneung Asan Hospital, Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital, Busan Paik Hospital, and Jeju National University Hospital. The funds will be used to support treatment and rehabilitation for children with severe and rare diseases.
A donation ceremony was held on December 10 KST at the JYP Entertainment headquarters in Seoul, attended by J.Y. Park and representatives from the recipient hospitals. During the event, Park expressed his motivation, stating, “As a father of two daughters, I’ve often reflected on the struggles parents face when their children are ill, especially when financial challenges are involved. I hope this donation can provide some relief, and I will continue working hard to offer more support in the future.”
J.Y. Park’s consistent philanthropic efforts have exemplified the spirit of noblesse oblige. In 2022, he donated ₩10 billion to support surgery and treatment for children with congenital and rare diseases through Samsung Seoul Hospital and the international NGO World Vision. In 2023, he contributed another ₩10 billion to hospitals, including Seoul Asan Medical Center and Chonnam National University Hospital. His cumulative efforts have supported over 276 children across Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Beyond personal contributions, J.Y. Park has spearheaded numerous corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives through JYP Entertainment. Under the “Every Dream Matters!” (EDM) campaign, the company runs programs such as the EDM Medical Support Project and the EDM Wish Fulfillment Project, aiming to provide financial and emotional support to children with serious illnesses. In 2023 alone, JYP donated ₩2.85 billion and ¥12 million (approximately 80,000 USD) to support 1,706 children globally.
In addition to these projects, JYP hosted a charity basketball tournament, with all entry fees and additional donations going toward medical expenses for underprivileged pediatric patients. The annual “EDM Day,” a year-end event showcasing the company’s social contributions, will take place on December 24 through JYP’s official YouTube channel.
JYP Entertainment’s commitment to sustainability is also reflected in its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives. In 2022, it became the first Korean entertainment company to release a sustainability report, earning an AA rating in the 2024 ESG Management Evaluation by Sustinvest. In December, TIME magazine ranked JYP third globally and first in Korea among the “2025 World’s Best Companies for Sustainable Growth.”
