Singer IU has warmed hearts this holiday season by donating 500 million KRW(approximately 340,000 USD) under the name “IUaena,” a combination of her stage name and her fan club, Uaena, according to her agency EDAM Entertainment on December 25th KST.
The generous donation has been allocated across various organizations, including the Seoul Asan Medical Center, the Seoul Child Welfare Association, Together Smiling World, and Warm Accompaniment, among others.
IU’s contribution will be used to support:
• Elderly patients, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease patients, and female cancer patients through the Seoul Asan Medical Center.
• Self-reliance training programs for youth preparing to leave foster care through the Seoul Child Welfare Association.
• Housing improvements for underprivileged communities via Together Smiling World.
• Customized space development for individuals with disabilities through Warm Accompaniment.
• Homeless shelter operations via Open Welfare.
Additionally, international and cultural initiatives will benefit from IU’s support, including:
• Water sanitation and healthcare projects for children abroad through Plan Korea.
• Cultural and artistic activities for underprivileged children via Walking Together.
• Hearing aids for children with hearing impairments through Snail of Love.
IU has consistently demonstrated her commitment to giving back, donating during milestones such as anniversaries, birthdays, and year-end holidays. In September, she marked her 16th debut anniversary by donating 25 million KRW under the “IUaena” name.
