Singer G-Dragon and broadcaster Jung Hyung Don are set to reunite in a variety show, bringing back the much-loved duo "Hyungyongdonjyong" to screens for the first time in a decade.
According to an OSEN report on December 11th, Jung Hyung Don joined the filming for Kim Tae Ho PD’s new variety show, tentatively titled ‘GD and Friends.’
Kim Tae Ho PD confirmed the news, stating to OSEN, “There were many fans looking forward to this, so we decided to bring G-Dragon and Jung Hyung Don together. However, as we are still in the early stages of filming, we plan to share more details officially at a later time.”
‘GD and Friends’ marks a long-awaited reunion between G-Dragon and Kim Tae Ho PD, who previously worked together during the peak years of ‘Infinite Challenge.’ Initially rumored to be titled ‘Good Day,’ the show recently began filming, with plans to wrap production by January 2025 and target a release later that year.
The reunion of G-Dragon and Jung Hyung Don is particularly noteworthy, as it comes 12 years after their last collaboration on the 2013 ‘Infinite Challenge Music Festival.’ The duo, known as ‘Hyungyongdonjyong,’ left a lasting impression with their witty banter and comedic chemistry. Their partnership was so iconic that it remained a favorite among fans, even leading to G-Dragon’s guest appearance on JTBC’s ‘Please Take Care of My Refrigerator’ alongside BIGBANG member Taeyang in 2015.
This upcoming show will recreate the beloved dynamic of G-Dragon and Jung Hyung Don, with Kim Tae Ho PD at the helm, marking their first on-screen reunion in 10 years.
‘GD and Friends’ is currently under review for programming on MBC in 2025. An MBC variety show representative stated, “We are positively considering airing Kim Tae Ho PD and G-Dragon’s new variety program.”
