Ann Hyun Mo issues apology over controversial social media tribute to Jeju Air crash victims.
Broadcast journalist Ann Hyun Mo has issued an apology following backlash over her social media post about the Jeju Air crash tragedy.
On January 1st KST, Ann wrote on her social media: “I failed in my attempt to express my condolences adequately. I am overwhelmed with grief over the Jeju Air tragedy. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families enduring immense pain and pray for the departed souls to rest in peace.”
Previously, on December 30th, Ann had shared a post reflecting on the tragedy, writing: “After flying on Friday, Saturday, and even today, I realize that every takeoff and landing is a matter of luck. Everything feels like a blessing, and the thought of it brings both sorrowful and grateful tears.” She also shared a photo taken at an airport.
Her mention of “luck” in relation to the tragedy sparked criticism, with many deeming the language inappropriate given the circumstances. Following the backlash, Ann closed the comments section on her post.
