Actor Lee Jung Hyun reveals he applied for Kia production engineer position.
Actor Lee Jung Hyun recently disclosed that he had applied for the position of production engineer at Kia Motors but was not selected.
On December 23rd KST, Lee shared a post on his Instagram account with the caption, “Rejected. Merry Christmas,” along with a screenshot of the rejection message he received.
The message stated, “Unfortunately, we were unable to proceed with your application for this position. We hope to meet you again through another opportunity at Kia.”
Lee Jung Hyun had applied for the “2024 Engineer (Production) New Hire” position but reportedly did not pass the document screening phase.
Kia Motors had announced its 2024 production engineer recruitment on December 5th KST through its talent recruitment website. Those hired would work on the automobile assembly line, assembling car components and conducting inspections and adjustments as needed.
Known for its highly competitive hiring process, Kia’s production engineer positions are coveted for their exceptional benefits, including an average annual salary exceeding 100 million KRW (approximately 70,000 USD), performance bonuses that can reach tens of millions of KRW, and extensive welfare programs such as education support for employees’ children.
According to Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service, Kia employees’ average salary in 2022 was 127 million KRW(approximately 87,000 USD). The company also provides job security with a retirement age of 60, and retirees can be rehired on a contract basis for up to two additional years.
Lee Jung Hyun, born in 1990, is a graduate of Yongin University’s Judo Department. He made his debut in the 2014 play 'Kyung Sook, Kyung Sook’s Father'.
He gained recognition for his role as the ruthless Japanese soldier Tsuda in tvN’s 'Mr. Sunshine' (2018), where he impressed viewers with his fluency in Japanese. Recently, he has been building his filmography with appearances in SBS’s 'The Escape of the Seven' (2023), ENA’s 'Rookie Cops' series, and the movie 'The Boys' (2023).
