Actor Lee Jung Hyun reveals failed attempt at Kia production job, agency denies retirement rumors.
Actor Lee Jung Hyun has stirred up buzz by revealing his failed attempt to pass the first round of the Kia production job application process. His agency clarified that this was not a sign of him preparing for retirement.
On December 23rd KST, Lee posted a message on his social media account saying, “Rejected. Merry Christmas,” along with a screenshot of a text message from Kia notifying him of his unsuccessful application in the 2024 engineer (production) recruitment process.
News of an actor applying for a major corporate production position sparked speculation about whether Lee was planning to retire.
In response, Lee’s agency, Actor Directors, told on December 24th, “This is not about preparing for retirement. It is simply a part of the actor’s personal endeavors to enjoy new challenges.”
According to the agency, Lee has always had a passion for learning and pursuing various certifications, even before his debut. “This was not a casual decision. He had genuine interest in the field, and the rejection seemed disappointing enough for him to share the post,” the agency explained, adding, “We do, however, worry that it might come across as a joke.”
The agency emphasized that the application was purely a personal endeavor and had no impact on his professional career plans. They added, “Filming for ‘New Recruit 3’ is ongoing, and there are no changes to his upcoming projects. We ask for continued support and interest in his acting career.”
