As Jo Se Ho’s wedding continues to draw attention, Yoo Jae Suk’s congratulatory gift has also become a hot topic.
On October 20, Jo Se Ho married a non-celebrity nine years his junior at the Shilla Hotel in Jangchung-dong, Seoul. It’s reported that the wedding had about 800-900 guests, sparking much interest. Actor Song Seung Heon, who isn’t particularly close with Jo Se Ho, even joked, “I went because I was afraid I’d be left out. It felt like the right decision—going forward, I think the Korean entertainment industry will be divided into those who attended Jo Se Ho’s wedding and those who didn’t.”
With so many notable guests, Jo Se Ho’s wedding was practically an award-ceremony-level event.
Yoo Jae Suk’s wedding gift was highlighted again in the episode of 'You Quiz on the Block' that aired on November 6. Jo Se Ho commented, “I can’t reveal the amount, but Yoo Jae Suk gave so much (for my wedding),” referring to Yoo Jae Suk’s generous congratulatory gift. Yoo Jae Suk quickly tried to silence him, saying, “No, don’t talk about it.”
Jo Se Ho’s remark that Yoo Jae Suk “gave so much” garnered much attention, especially since Jo Se Ho had previously disclosed that he had only given 50,000 KRW (around 36 USD) as a gift at Yoo Jae Suk’s wedding, showing Yoo Jae Suk’s caring nature for his junior.
Jo Se Ho had once shared, “When Jae Suk got married (in 2008), I only gave 50,000 KRW. I didn’t even eat (at the wedding).” He explained, “At the time, I only had 130,000 KRW in my wallet. If I gave 100,000 KRW, my living expenses would have been tight, so I settled for 50,000 KRW.”
Yoo Jae Suk, responding warmly, said, “I was so grateful. When Jo Se Ho gets married, I’ll give double that amount. I’ll skip the meal too, right?”
Though Yoo Jae Suk had jokingly promised to give double Jo Se Ho’s original amount, or 100,000 KRW, Jo Se Ho’s reaction suggested Yoo Jae Suk gave much more, leaving everyone impressed.
