On the 10th (local time), Jimin was announced as the winner of the 'Best K-Pop' category at the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMA).
Following Jungkook’s win in the same category last year, this marks the second consecutive year a BTS member has taken home the trophy. The 'Best K-Pop' category was first introduced in 2021, and BTS won as a group that year.
Jimin’s solo second album ‘MUSE,’ released in July, and its title track ‘Who’ have continued to receive significant global acclaim nearly four months after their release. This sustained popularity likely influenced his win at the 'MTV EMA.' ‘
'MUSE’ and ‘Who’ have remained on the U.S. Billboard's 'Billboard 200' and 'Hot 100' charts for 15 consecutive weeks and have stayed on the UK Official Chart for 16 weeks, demonstrating worldwide appeal. 'Who' also holds 4th place on Spotify’s latest 'Weekly Top Songs Global' (November 1-7), maintaining its position in the 'Top 5.'
‘Who’ has brought Jimin unparalleled success as a solo artist. The song debuted at 4th on the UK Official Singles Chart (July 26-August 1), marking the highest position for any solo song by Jimin. In its first week of release, it topped multiple sub-charts, including 'Single Sales,' 'Single Downloads,' and 'Physical Single Sales.'
Meanwhile, BTS members continue to showcase their formidable individual influence through active solo projects. Jimin will present an exhibition encompassing his solo albums ‘FACE’ and ‘MUSE’ in Los Angeles on November 29th and in Tokyo on January 10th. Jin is set to release his first solo album ‘Happy’ on November 15th at 2 p.m., featuring various band-based tracks that highlight his enhanced musical prowess. Jin’s participation in writing the lyrics for the track ‘Longing’ further raises anticipation.
RM’s second solo album ‘Right Place, Wrong Person,’ released in May, will be chronicled in the documentary film ‘RM: Right People, Wrong Place,’ set to premiere on December 5th in over 90 countries and regions, including South Korea.
V is also slated to release a duet with the legendary pop artist Bing Crosby, titled ‘White Christmas (with V of BTS),’ on December 6th.
