SM Entertainment, one of the leading entertainment companies in South Korea, has recently celebrated its 30th anniversary and is known for producing some of the biggest names in K-pop in the last three decades.
On October 22, SM Entertainment released a special brand film titled "THE CULTURE" in celebration and offered a nostalgic glimpse into the history of one of the founding companies of K-pop.
With the release of the video, many SM Entertainment fans noticed that a few artists were noticeably absent from the mention. This is because not all of the company's projects have achieved the same level of success.
One of the groups that were unable to yield success was Black Beat. However, surprisingly, most of the group's members continue to contribute greatly to the company. Three members of Black Beat—Jae Shim, Hwang Sang Hoon, and Jang Jin Young—have remained at SM Entertainment, transitioning into key roles within the company.
Jae Shim and Hwang Sang Hoon have transitioned into creative directors of performances overlooking the production and direction of concerts planned by SM Entertainment. Jang Jin Young became a vocal trainer, training many of SM’s leading vocalists, and ensuring the company’s artists maintain excellent vocal performance standards.
Korean netizens were surprised that these three members remained at SM Entertainment, showing their loyalty to the company to this day. Korean netizens commented:
"I used to like Black Beat."
"I wonder what the other two members are up to."
"Jang Jin Young was so good-looking."
"Jang Jin Young trainer is so good."
"I think Black Beat just debuted at the wrong time."
"I knew that these members were still at SM, lol."
