Sung Yuri's husband Ahn Sung Hyun is facing a 7 year prison sentence for fraud and conspiracy to list virtual currency.
According to reports on October 31, the prosecution sought a 7 year prison term for Ahn Sung Hyun during the sentencing hearing held on the 29th at the Seoul Southern District Court. Additionally, the prosecution requested a fine of 2 billion won (approximately USD 1.5 million), the confiscation of two luxury watches, and a surcharge of 1.5 billion won (approximately USD 1.1 million).
Lee Sang Jun, the former CEO of Bithumb Holdings, who was also indicted, faces a 5 year prison sentence, the confiscation of 30.5 million won (approximately USD 22,800), and a surcharge of 1.525 billion won (approximately USD 1.1 million). Ahn Sung Hyun and the former CEO are accused of receiving tens of billions of won from businessman Kang Jong Hyun between September and November 2021 in exchange for facilitating the listing of coin "A" on the Bithumb exchange.
According to the prosecution, the two received 3 billion won (approximately USD 2.2 million) in cash, two luxury watches worth 400 million won (approximately USD 300,000), and a membership card for a high end restaurant worth 11.5 million won (approximately USD 8,500) from Kang and Song, an official from the coin issuance company.
Furthermore, Ahn Sung Hyun is also charged with deceiving Kang by claiming that Lee asked for the listing payment of 2 billion won (approximately USD 1.5 million) urgently, which led him to embezzle an additional 2 billion won (approximately USD 1.5 million) (violating the Specific Economic Crimes Weighted Act and fraud). Ahn Sung Hyun and Lee were indicted without arrest on September 8 last year. The court is scheduled to announce the verdict on December 26.
Meanwhile, Ahn Sung Hyun debuted as a professional golfer in 2005 and married actress Sung Yuri, a member of the group Fin.K.L, in 2017. They have twin daughters together.
