Amid the massive success of BLACKPINK’s Rosé’s new single APT., a fan-made remix version titled the “Hwang Jung Min Version of APT.” has gone viral. Remix YouTuber ‘jffremix’ posted the video on October 26 KST, featuring cut-together lines from Hwang Jung Min’s movies set to the tune of APT. The remix video has already surpassed 2.4 million views as of October 30, sparking a frenzy among netizens.
Comments from fans include, “Supporting Hwang Jung Min’s Hollywood debut,” “Rosé’s voice has been erased from my mind,” and “I bet hit songs will now be divided by whether Hwang Jung Min covers them or not.” Some fans even mentioned actor Jung Hae In, who humorously recommended the remix during a "Veteran 2" stage appearance.
"jffremix", also known for creating the viral “Hwang Jung Min’s Bam Yang Gang” video, received a thank-you from Hwang Jung Min himself, who said, “These days, elementary students think I’m a singer.”
Meanwhile, APT. serves as the pre-release track from Rosé’s first full album, 'Rosie', inspired by a popular game called the “apartment game” in Korea. According to Billboard on October 29, APT. debuted at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking the highest ranking for a female K-pop artist.
