The '2024 MAMA Awards' unveiled its ambitious plans and showcased confidence as a premier global K-pop awards event at the Press Premiere today, held at the CJ ENM Sangam Center. This year's ceremony, set to make its U.S. debut, will feature Park Bo Gum as the host in America and Kim Tae Ri in Japan, both of whom will embody the awards’ values and spirit.
During the event themed ‘25 Voices of MAMA Awards’, the hosts, new artist lineup, and exclusive collaboration stages were introduced, heightening anticipation for a unique experience. Park Bo Gum, an irreplaceable storyteller of MAMA's history since 2017, shared his excitement about hosting the U.S. leg of the ceremony, while Kim Tae Ri, a trusted actress known for her immersive roles, will debut as the host in Japan. Kim expressed her admiration for artists, stating she eagerly awaits joining them on this extraordinary platform.
The event also announced the debut of girl group IZNA, formed through global votes on 'I-Land 2', alongside SEVENTEEN, who recently returned with ‘Spill the Feels’ and are gearing up for their world tour. Other performances will feature emerging group Young Posse and Grammy-winning artist Anderson .Paak, expanding the ceremony’s reach to a global audience.
Highlighting this year’s concept ‘BIG BLUR: What is Real?’, 2024 MAMA Awards will use advanced virtual technology and relay broadcasting from the U.S. to Japan, making the event accessible worldwide. With awe-inspiring stages, including collaborations featuring PLAVE with Lee Young Ji and aespa’s signature storytelling, MAMA will offer groundbreaking performances. Notably, Yeonjun from Tomorrow X Together will open the theme stage with a unique collaboration with robots.
Chief Producer Yoon Shin Hye expressed the significance of MAMA’s journey since 1999, stating their commitment to leading K-pop’s global movement. Art Director Noh Mi Rae shared a preview of the “world tree” center stage set for Japan’s Kyocera Dome, promising a visually compelling experience. Supported by Visa, 2024 MAMA Awards will broadcast on Mnet and Mnet K-POP’s YouTube channel, with ceremonies on November 21 in Los Angeles and November 22–23 in Osaka.
