Actor Choi Jin Hyuk was brought to tears after receiving heartbreaking news about his beloved dog, Mongshil.
In the September 1 episode of SBS's 'My Little Old Boy,' the show highlighted Choi Jin Hyuk's emotional journey as he prepared for the inevitable loss of his dog, Mongshil, who was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma, a cancer similar to leukemia in humans. The expected survival time for this condition is just 1-2 weeks. When the vet informed him that "Mongshil could pass away at any time," Choi Jin Hyuk was visibly shaken. When Choi Jin Hyuk's mother saw Mongshil’s body, which had turned gray from tumors spreading from the heart to the spleen and skin, she broke down in tears, saying, "It felt like walking on thin ice every day."
Later, Choi Jin Hyuk visited a pet funeral home to prepare for Mongshil’s final moments. Watching the funeral procedures, from cleaning to cremation, he couldn’t hold back his tears, saying, "Just thinking about it makes me cry," and was at a loss for words for a while. He also became emotional when he visited the columbarium where other pets were laid to rest, unable to take his eyes off one spot. Even Seo Jang Hoon, who was watching, was moved to tears.
In another attempt to care for Mongshil, who had lost his appetite, Choi Jin Hyuk tried to cook a special meal. However, things didn’t go as smoothly as he hoped—he had issues with the stove and struggled with basic tasks like cutting the food with scissors. Despite his clumsy cooking skills, he put in his best effort for one Mongshil's last meals.
