J.Y. Park, singer and producer, displayed his enduring affection for Wonder Girls.
On the September 16th episode of KBS 2TV’s ‘Tantara JYP,’ J.Y. Park performed ‘When We Disco’ with Sunmi of Wonder Girls. Following the performance, fellow Wonder Girls members Sunye and Yubin made surprise appearances, thrilling the audience.
Introducing Wonder Girls, J.Y. Park said, “They’re a group I hold dear, just thinking about them brings fond memories because I took them to America and we toured all over the country.” During Wonder Girls' peak popularity, J.Y. Park led the group to make a significant mark in the U.S., achieving meaningful results.
Sunye praised J.Y. Park, saying, “It’s an honor to be invited. Can you believe it’s been 30 years? For 30 years, you’ve poured all your talent into making people’s eyes and ears happy. Watching your performance, I was truly moved.”
J.Y. Park hinted at a possible full Wonder Girls reunion, saying, “I haven’t brought everyone together just yet. It’s too precious for this moment. It’ll happen someday when you absolutely can’t wait any longer.” This suggestion of a future comeback delighted fans.
Finally, he shared a memorable anecdote: “When Wonder Girls debuted, we had only two months of salary left for the staff. I wrote a song with all my might, and it ended up saving our company.”
The group then performed a medley of their mega-hits ‘Tell Me,’ ‘So Hot,’ and ‘Nobody’, much to the audience’s delight.
