Seventeen's S.Coups recently celebrated his birthday by making a generous donation of 30 million KRW (~21,831 USD) to an animal rescue organization.
On August 8, WeAct, the animal rescue group, shared that S.Coups, who initially connected with them last year by supporting efforts to shut down an illegal breeding farm in Hwaseong, has once again shown his commitment to animal welfare. This time, he donated in honor of his birthday, dedicating it in the name of both himself and Seventeen's fandom, Carat.
S.Coups first partnered with WeAct in September 2022, contributing 30 million KRW (~21,831 USD) to aid the rescue of dogs suffering at the Hwaseong breeding farm. Thanks to his support, these dogs received much-needed medical treatment and were eventually rehomed.
The recent donation will be used to cover medical expenses for severely ill animals recently rescued by WeAct, as well as future rescue operations for abused animals. A representative from WeAct expressed gratitude, noting, "S.Coups' previous support brought global attention from CARATs and fans to the issue of animal abuse. We are committed to spreading S.Coups' positive influence even further."
This donation also allowed WeAct to pay off outstanding veterinary bills, providing the organization with the resources needed to continue its vital work.
S.Coups is no stranger to philanthropy. In 2016, just a year after Seventeen's debut, the group donated 13 goats in their names to support children in Tanzania, Africa. Since then, Seventeen members have consistently supported various charitable causes. Last year, in addition to supporting WeAct, S.Coups donated to aid earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria and contributed to "Angels' Haven for Animals," a nonprofit dedicated to the welfare of stray animals.
In June of this year, Seventeen made history as the first K-pop group to be appointed as UNESCO Youth Goodwill Ambassador. The group donated 1 million USD (approximately 1.39 billion KRW) to collaborate with UNESCO on initiatives supporting youth around the world.
