There has been ongoing debate regarding a fan meeting and the sale of merchandise organized by BTS member Jimin's father.
Jimin's father, Mr. Park, had planned to hold a fan meeting on August 11 in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, Japan, but the event was canceled. The event was part of the opening ceremony for the Japanese branch of the café Mr. Park operates.
Although the fan sign was canceled due to Mr.Park's circumstances, there has been a debate in various popular online communities regarding a family member of BTS holding their ownfan sign event.
Korean netizens criticized Jimin's father for using his son's fame and they commented:
