Following his August 23 appearance for police questioning on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act for drunk driving at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, BTS’ Suga took to BTS’ official fan community on the Weverse platform on August 25 with a lengthy handwritten apology letter.
This apology is his second after his agency Big Hit Music released one on August 7, stating that Suga has been fined and had his license revoked due to operating an electric scooter while drunk, and they apologize for the disappointment caused.
Below is the full August 25 statement from Suga:
Hello. This is Suga.
It is with a shameful heart that I would like to apologize to you again.
I am sincerely sorry for disappointing and hurting my fans and everyone who loves me due to my wrongdoing.
I made a big mistake by forgetting my responsibility to repay the love I received with actions commensurate with it.
On the night of August 6, I made the mistake of driving an electric scooter on the sidewalk after consuming alcohol.
Also, I would like to apologize for any confusion caused by the first apology that was hastily posted on the 7th.
I should have been more thoughtful and cautious, but I failed to do so.
All of this is my fault. My carelessness has made things difficult for everyone who cares about me.
I will bear this in mind for life and work hard so as not to commit any wrongdoings again.
Because of this incident, I have put a huge dent in the precious memories I made with my members and fans, and I have tarnished the name of BTS.
It is impossibly hard to express how sorry and distressed I am about the damage I have caused to the members and the team.
I am sorry to my members, who have always believed in me, for putting them through a difficult time.
And I know very well the disappointment that my fans who support me must feel.
I have nothing to say but sorry to the fans who have always shown me immense love despite my shortcomings...
I know it is difficult to remedy the hurt and disappointment I have caused my fans with words. I deeply regret my actions and will reflect on it with a heavy heart every day.
Once again, I sincerely apologize to the fans who were hurt by me.
I will wholeheartedly accept the eventual disposition as well as the criticism.
Lastly, I would like to once again sincerely apologize for causing a stir in society and disappointing many people.
