Some of South Korea's most beloved sports and entertainment events will be relocating from 2025~2028, as the city of Seoul embarks on its ambitious 'Jamsil Sports · MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) Multicomplex' construction plan.
First, the Jamsil Indoor Arena, home to the Korean Basketball League team Samsung Thunders, is scheduled for demolition around May of 2025. An adjacent building that is home to fellow KBL team SK Knights, Jamsil Student Gymnasium, is also scheduled for demolition in winter of 2025.
Beginning with the 2025-2026 season, both KBL teams must relocate until the completion of the 'Jamsil Sports · MICE Multicomplex', scheduled for some time in 2028.
The 69,000+ capacity Olympic Stadium (or Jamsil Olympic Stadium) will remain intact, while the open-air Jamsil Baseball Stadium is set to undergo reconstruction beginning in 2026. While the Jamsil Baseball Stadium is under construction, its home teams LG Twins and Doosan Bears will relocate to the Olympic Stadium for their season games.
Meanwhile, since early 2024, many large-scale K-Pop events have relocated to Yeongjeongdo's Inspire Arena, equipped with small and large scale event capabilities.
