The torch relay schedule for BTS member Jin at the 2024 Paris Olympics has been confirmed.
According to Olympics.com, the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee has designated Jin as the first torchbearer for the Louvre section of the relay in downtown Paris on Sunday, July 14.
Olympics.com reported, “Jin is expected to carry the torch starting at around 8:30 PM from the Pyramid of the Louvre Museum.”
Earlier this month, it was announced that Jin had been selected as a torchbearer, but the exact location and schedule were not disclosed. The 14th, when Jin carries the torch, also marks Bastille Day, the French National Day.
The 2024 Paris Olympic torch was lit on April 16 at the Temple of Hera in Olympia, Greece, the birthplace of the ancient Olympics. It arrived in Marseille, France, on May 8, and will pass through about 60 locations before the opening ceremony.
The torch relay will feature around 10,000 participants, including famous individuals like soccer legend Didier Drogba, members of the French Resistance who fought against the Nazis, and survivors of the 2016 Nice truck attack.
Jin, a member of the globally renowned BTS, has emphasized messages of self-love, love, and peace through his music. This is likely why he was chosen as a torchbearer.
Jin was the first BTS member to complete his military service, having been discharged on the 12th of last month. He resumed activities immediately after, starting with a fan meeting on June 13, the 11th anniversary of BTS’s debut. He is also planning to appear on variety shows and is preparing new songs as a singer.
